Call for Nomination - NLA Oyo State Election 2022

2022 GENERAL ELECTIONS - GUIDELINES

As the tenure, of the present executive committee, expires in November 2022, it is now time to hold the chapter election of NLA, Oyo State Chapter. 

A. ELECTION TITLE TABLE

	ACTIVITIES	TIMELINE
1.	Guidelines for election will be released	August 22, 2022
2.	Publication of list of paid-up members(Names of eligible contestants/Voters)	August 20, 2022
3.	Nominations of candidates	August   23 - Sept 19
4.	Names of qualified contestants to be released by	September 20
5.	Campaign begins	September 21st of  16th of October 2019
6.	The manifesto would be through Zoom Platform	October 13 Thursday 2 -4pm
7.	The election would be through electronic voting	It Starts at 8:00 am, on Monday, October 17 End  (6:59pm) on Tuesday, October 18
8.	Presentation  & Analysis of the election results.	18 October 2022 by 8pm Venue: Zoom
9.	Presentation of Certificate of Return & New Executive  Training	26 October at Oyo State Library Board

We hereby call on paid-up members of the Oyo State Chapter to express interest / nominate candidates for the following positions

1. Chairman 
2. Vice-Chairman
3. General Secretary
4. Assistant General Secretary
5. Financial Secretary
6. Treasurer
7. Public Relations Officer (PRO)
   
   An E-Voting system shall be used for this election. (the modality shall be communicated in detail before the voting shall commence)  The election will be conducted through an online application. 

Note, the following guidelines guide you as you prepare to nominate, be nominated, vote, or be voted for...

1. To qualify to hold any position in the Executive Committee, a candidate must be a registered member of the Chapter and capable of directing this Chapter professionally
   
   
2. Aspirants must be registered paid-up members for five years i.e. (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).
   
   
3. Aspirants for the position of Chairman must be registered Librarian with a minimum qualification of a Master’s degree in LIS
   
   
4. Aspirants for other positions must be registered Librarian with a minimum qualification of diploma in LIS
   
   
5. Must be an active member of the Nigeria Library Association
   
   
6.  Any registered member of the Association can nominate a candidate for any office provided he/she has been a paid-up member for the last three (3) consecutive years – ( 2019, 2020, 2021)
   
   
7.  A member can only nominate a contestant for a position.
